There’s also some fun illusions that happen in the cave, and continues later in the show as characters’ costumes seem to change magically.Īdi Roy’s Aladdin may be a bit of a rogue but it’s mostly posturing as he proves in his song Proud of Your Boy, and in his decisions to confess he’s not a real prince, and to keep his promise to set the Genie free. As Robin Williams did for the film, Martin makes every moment he’s on stage memorable. The chorus members change costumes and dance style numerous times as the stage explodes with vibrant color and energy. ![]() This is particularly true of the sequence in the Cave of Wonders for the song Friend Like Me which introduces the Genie played with a cheeky playfulness by Marcus M. Many of the dialogue sequences are staged in front of the curtain to accommodate set changes, and are necessarily static and repetitive, but any time the curtain opens on a big production number, the Jubilee really rocks.
